My Responsibility Chart

This My Responsibility Chart earns a 4.5 star rating from us. Our son was thriving on having chores to do around the house, and we decided it was time he got an allowance. So, we bought this chart to keep track of his chores.

The chart comes with cards with typical chores for children, making the bed, picking up toys, brushing my teeth etc. It also comes with rewards cards, allowance, extra dessert, family outing, going to playground etc. You set the child's goal, say 20 stars per week. For every chore they complete each day, they get a star. At the end of the week, if they have reached their goal, they get whatever you've put in as the reward.

We hung it up where my son can put his gold stars on each day and he can't wait for "his stars". Then on Saturday night, if he's reached his goal, he gets his allowance of whatever goal we have set for him. It is amazing to see how much this is teaching him about responsibility. If he doesn't earn his stars each day, he's really bummed out. I now have someone who takes the clean dishes out of the dishwasher for me every morning-and he can't wait to do it!

The Original Slumber Bear with Silkie Blanket

Want your new baby to sleep through the night? This item is magical! I give this one a FIVE Star rating and buy one for every friend who is pregnant.

"Invented by a doctor, and effectively used in hospital nurseries for over 28 years! The Original Slumber Bear contains the ONLY actual intra-uterine, recorded womb sound to help lull your Baby to sleep in minutes! Sound and motion sensors re-activate recording when Baby cries or jostles bear. Additional hook and loop straps allow you to secure the removable audio box to crib rails, strollers and more!" This little gem is a MUST to keeping your child sleeping during the night!

When your child is older, you can remove the sound box and the bear can still be used as a lovey! Every mom I've given one too says it's wonderful! It is available in pink, blue and beige.

The First Years Air Flow Sleep Positioner by Learning Curve

I am giving this product a THREE and a HALF star rating. I personally thought it was fantastic and for a meager $12 helped me sleep through the night! There is debate over whether or not these sleep positioners are necessary. Basically, you lay your baby on its' back in the middle of this and it keeps your child from rolling over. It helps prevent SIDS by promoting back sleeping. This is where the debate comes in. Everyone has different opinions on SIDS. I won't debate the issue. For peace of mind for the mother worried about SIDS, this is an inexpensive item which may help ease your worries like it did mine!

CLENE Changing Mat

A portable changing mat is a necessity with a baby on board! I'm giving this changing mat a FOUR star rating. It's a great little mat, which rolls out wherever you go. It has two pockets to hold wipes and diapers and comes with a carrying case.

I personally prefer a larger mat which rolls up and fits into a diaper bag rather than having another bag to carry. However, this particular mat has quite a few advantages to it; anti-microbial, cushy and plush, as well as a stroller strap.

It also comes from one of the most reliable baby companies out there, One Step Ahead and has an attractive price of only $24.95.

Fisher-Price Rainforest Healthy Care High Chair

This high chair is amazing! We bought ours four years ago before our son was born, so it's an earlier version, but has all the same features. I give this chair a very high FIVE star rating. When we were at the store looking at chairs, a woman pointed this one out and said you can't live without it-she was SO right!

It's easy to clean, wipes right off! Everything is dishwasher safe as well. It has a removable food tray which is dishwasher safe as well as removable toys to entertain your child when you are busy in the kitchen. It's very plush and comfy and grows with your child right up and beyond moving into a booster seat.

Because of the features of this chair, our son was able to skip a booster seat altogether. We just took the trays off when he was big enough, raised him up to table height and strapped him in. Within a week, he was sitting on a stool at the table with us without any help. The locking castor wheels are just another added bonus and safety feature!
